The movie was released on August 26, 2015. It had exclusive sneak previews in the Philippines on 16 and 17 August 2015 and numerous pre-screenings in the United States prior to its official release on August 26, 2015, by The Weinstein Company.

13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi is a 2016 American action survival movie written by Chuck Hogan, directed and produced by Michael Bay, based on Mitchell Zuckoff’s 2014 book of the same title.
The film follows six members of the Annex Security Team battling to protect the American diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, following waves of militants’ attacks on September 11, 2012. The film stars Gael Garcia Bernal (also an executive producer) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. It was shown in the Special Presentations section of the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival.
It won the Prize of the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) for Special Presentations and was selected as the Mexican entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards, but it was not nominated.
